Israeli Military Kills 4 Palestinian Militant Divers
The Israeli military has killed four men in diving gear off the coast of the Gaza Strip.
An Israel Defense Force spokesman says their naval forces intercepted a group of divers “on their way to a terrorist attack,” and prevented the attack.
According to Hamas, four bodies have already been found, but there are still one or two other men listed as missing.
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, a militant offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, claims the four men killed were members of its marine unit, and that they were just doing some training exercises in the waters when they were killed.
Tensions are continuing to heighten between Israel and Palestine a week after the Israeli raid on the aid flotilla.
Hamas says this incident is just another attempt by Israel to divert attention away from the flotilla attack.
The Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship, was part of a convoy trying to break through an Israeli blockade to deliver aid into Gaza.
