Chrysler Jeep Liberty Recall - Latest Info
The Chrysler Group LLC recently announced the recall of their 2008 Jeep Liberty, due to a problem associated with the windshield wipers fitted to these vehicles. Approximately 16,229 Jeep Liberty vehicles are affected by this recall, which was announced due to the fact that the fault in question could lead to the complete failure of the windshield wipers system fitted to these vehicles.
This recall was announced following the discovery that an excessive amount of adhesive had been used during the assembly of the electric motor that powers the windshield wiper system, which over time, could cause the water seals of the motor to become compromised, and in turn lead to water intrusion into the electric motor assembly. This could result in the windshield wipers malfunctioning as a result of a problem with the electric motor, or in some cases, failing totally. If the windshield wiper system was to fail during a rainstorm, this would have an adverse impact on the driver’s visibility, and significantly increase the risk of the vehicle becoming involved in a crash.
Owners of Jeep Liberty vehicles affected by this recall are requested contact their local Jeep dealer in order to have their vehicles examined and repaired if necessary — all repairs or replacements associated with this fault will be carried out free of charge.
