Chevrolet Impala Recall - Latest Announcement From General Motors
General Motors recently announced a recall of the 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet Impala, due to a problem associated with the seat belts fitted to the front seats of this vehicle. The recall is understood to affect around 303,100 vehicles, which were distributed throughout the United States through Chevrolet dealers.
This recall was announced by General Motors following the discovery that the front safety belt webbing in some Chevrolet Impala vehicles had not been correctly attached to the lap belt anchor pre-tensioner, which is located between the side of the seat and the door of the vehicle. In the event of the seat belt webbing not being correctly attached to the anchorage point, the seat belt would fail to restrain a passenger in the manner it is designed to during a crash. This results in an increase in the risk of a vehicle occupant sustaining injuries during a crash, and as such, this problem is being treated as serious.
Owners of Chevrolet Impala vehicles that are affected by this recall are requested to contact Chevrolet on 1-800-630-2438 in order to arrange to have their vehicles inspected and repaired if required. All inspections and repairs associated with this fault will be carried out by Chevrolet dealers free of charge.
