Buick Lucerne And Cadillac DTS Recall - Latest Info

General Motors recently announced the recall of the 2010 and 2011 models of both the Buick Lucerne and the Cadillac DTS, due to a problem associated with some of the electric cables fitted to these vehicles. This recall applies to vehicles of these models that are fitted with V8 engines, and was announced following the discovery that some of the electrical cables fitted to these vehicles could make contact with the power steering return line and cause this line to fail, significantly increasing the likelihood of the vehicle becoming involved in a crash due to a sudden loss of power steering. There is also the additional danger of creating a fire hazard as the power steering fluid is flammable.

Approximately 13,780 of these Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS vehicles are affected by this recall, and the electrical cables responsible for this problem are understood to be the starter cable and the alternator cable. Owners of vehicles affected by this recall are requested to contact their local Buick or Cadillac dealers in order to have this potentially dangerous fault rectified, and the solution to this problem is understood to be the securing or re-routing of the starter cable and the alternator cable. All repairs or replacements associated with this recall will be performed free of charge by Buick or Cadillac dealers across the United States.
