BMW X5 Recall - Latest Info

BMW of North America LLC recently announced the recall of some of its 2008 X5 SUVs, due to a problem associated with the fuel pumps fitted to these vehicles. This recall is understood to affect almost 21,000 X5 SUVs, which were manufactured between November 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008, and fitted with a six-cylinder gasoline engine.

This recall was issued following the discovery that the fuel pumps fitted to these six cylinder SUV’s were not manufactured to the required specification, which means that they are prone to failure if the vehicle is used in certain operational conditions, due to excessive wear of their internal mechanisms. The failure of the fuel pump would result in the vehicle stalling, and if the fuel pump was to fail whilst the vehicle was in motion and cause the engine to stall, this would significantly increase the risk of the vehicle becoming involved in an accident.

BMW of North America is actively working towards creating a solution to this problem, and plans to inform owners of these vehicles as to the solution as soon as it is available. Owners who require further information regarding this problem may contact BMW of North America on 1 800 525 7417.
