Air China (SHA:601111) Orders Four Boeing (NYSE:BA) 777-300ER Aircraft

Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Air China (SHA:601111) recently announced an order for four Boeing 777-300ERs (Extended Range) aircraft, which was placed by Air China, the flag carrier for the People’s Republic of China, as a part of an overall plan to expand its international services. The deal is understood to be worth around $1.1 billion, based on current list prices.

Fan Cheng, the Vice President of Air China made the following statement regarding the announcement of the order: “The 777-300ER will be the backbone of our long-haul international fleet. The airplane’s high efficiency and performance features will enable Air China to launch more direct long-haul routes to meet the increasing demand of our passengers.” The Boeing 777, which is the largest twin-jet aircraft in the world, is a long range, wide-body aircraft, and the 777-300ER version is capable of carrying up to 365 passengers up to 7,930 nautical miles.

Marlin Dailey, the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, made the following comment regarding the order for the four aircraft placed by Air China: “This is a great day in the history of our long and enduring partnership with Air China. Today’s order of 777s also underscores Air China’s confidence in the world’s most successful twin-engine, long-haul airplane.”
