Stater Bros. Supermarkets recently announced its decision to distribute several diabetes medications free of charge to diabetes patients throughout the month of November, which is the National Diabetes Awareness Month. The following diabetes medications will be available from all Stater Bros. Super Rx Pharmacy locations, to all diabetes patients, as long as they have a valid prescription from their doctor:

  • Metformin
  • Metformin ER
  • Glimepride
  • Glipizide
  • Glipizide XL
  • Glyburide
  • Glyburide Micro

Jack H. Brown, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros., issued the following statement regarding this decision to provide these drugs to customers for free throughout the month of November: “Stater Bros. has a long-standing history of giving back to the communities it serves, and we believe in doing the right thing for the right reason. As the only Supermarket Chain in Southern California to provide these medications for FREE during these tough economic times is the right thing to do. We’re pleased to be able to provide our valued customers with access to high quality, affordable pharmacy services.”

This program of distributing diabetes medications to customers free of charge is just one of many programs conducted by Stater Bros., with the aim of providing the communities which they serve with improved access to high quality pharmacy services. Other programs include the Generic Prescription Program, through with customers can purchase over three hundred commonly prescribed medications for a flat fee, which is $4 for a 30-day supply or $10 for a 90-day supply.
