Twice now in the past 3 years, the Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet has been profiled in People magazine. A Phoenix couple, Marty and Grace Moorehead, lost a cumulative 233 pounds using Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet. Each dieter undertook the diet under the supervision of their own family doctor.

The Mooreheads appear after trailblazer Josie Raper whose picture was on the People magazine cover in January, 2009. She lost, and has kept it off for 2 years, a total of 120 pounds on the diet.

Throughout the weight-loss portion of the diet, users are kept to a strict 1,000-1,200 calories/day with medium intensity exercise advised. However, higher intensity exercise is called for in the weight maintenance portion.

The actual diet was invented in 1975 by Miami based M.D. Dr. Sanford Siegal and has had a reported 500,000 adherents over the years. In recent times, the diet has made a resurgence due to its use among major sports stars and Hollywood celebrities.

“With a name as catchy as Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet, my approach to weight-loss is sometimes dismissed by people who don’t know anything about it and who’ve never treated an overweight patient,” said Dr. Siegal. “I’ve treated more than a half million overweight patients, and Marty and Grace, like the thousands of success stories who’ve preceded them, demonstrate that my system works, quickly and safely.”
