The Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s San Bruno Fire Fund recently received a generous donation of $25,000 from the Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) and its Northern California dealers, which will be used to assist victims of the gas explosion and subsequent fire that occurred on September 9. The Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s San Bruno Fire Fund has managed to raise around $400,000 toward helping the victims of this unfortunate incident, and this recent donation from Ford is the first, and to date only, donation received from the auto industry.

This generous contribution was put together by the Ford Motor Company, as well as 80 of its dealers based in Northern California, and the Ford Motor Company also announced that they will also be offering the residents of the area affected by the explosion and fire a $750 discount on the purchase of a new Ford vehicle, in addition to this donation. Mark Wexler, Ford’s San Francisco Regional Sales, Marketing and Service Manager, issued the following statement regarding the donation and the offer of a discount on new Ford vehicles: “We are all part of the same community and it’s important to help each other in times of need. Our dealers, along with the Ford Fund are a part of this community and it’s our mission to help our neighbors.”
